Osm FAQs

Question 1

What are the key features of Osm?

Accepted Answer

Osm features a web-based map viewer, real-time server-to-client communication via SSE, MCP tools for map control (markers, polygons, view settings), and a PostgreSQL/PostGIS query interface.

Question 2

What database does Osm use?

Accepted Answer

Osm is designed to work with a PostgreSQL database enhanced with the PostGIS extension. This allows you to store and query OpenStreetMap data efficiently.

Question 3

What is Osm?

Accepted Answer

Osm integrates OpenStreetMap data with the MCP (Micro Control Platform), providing tools to query, visualize, and manipulate map data directly within an MCP interface.

Question 4

What can I do with the MCP tools provided by Osm?

Accepted Answer

The MCP tools allow you to dynamically control the map view, add markers and polygons, set the map title, and execute SQL queries against the OpenStreetMap database directly from the MCP interface. This facilitates interactive map manipulation and data exploration.

Question 5

How do I install and configure Osm?

Accepted Answer

Installation typically involves setting up the necessary environment variables (PostgreSQL connection details) and configuring the MCP server to include Osm. See the project's README for detailed steps and the claude_desktop_config.json example.
