Because PostHog uses a forward-only versioning model without pointer flips, rolling back requires retrieving the query from a previous stable version and publishing it as a new, higher version number.

How do you deactivate a single endpoint version?

You can target a specific version and set is_active to false. Callers explicitly requesting that version will receive an error, while the default latest version and other pinned versions remain online.

Can I update endpoint settings without bumping the version number?

Yes. Modifying non-query settings such as description, data_freshness_seconds, or materialization state can be targeted to a specific version in-place without generating a new version.

What happens when callers request an endpoint without a version parameter?

Unpinned requests automatically execute the latest, highest version number of the endpoint. Callers can pin to specific versions using query parameters to insulate against breaking updates.
