GreenboneMCP is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server designed to bridge the gap between AI clients and the Greenbone/OpenVAS vulnerability management platform. Developed as part of a Master's thesis and currently a Proof of Concept, this server enables AI assistants to seamlessly interact with Greenbone for critical security tasks. It allows AI clients to programmatically create, launch, monitor, and stop vulnerability scans, fetch detailed reports, and even compare report deltas between different runs, thereby enhancing AI-assisted vulnerability management capabilities. The server communicates with `gvmd` via a Unix socket, running on `stdio` transport, and is specifically tested with the Greenbone Community Edition container setup.
