Install Skills in Claude.ai
Enable built-in Skills or upload custom ones in Claude.ai. No coding required.
Before You Start
Pro or Team subscription required for Skills access
Enable "Run code & use tools" in Settings → Capabilities
Enable Built-in Skills
Open Settings
Go to claude.ai and click your profile icon in the top right corner. Select Settings from the dropdown.
Navigate to Features → Skills
In the Settings sidebar, click on Features, then select Skills.
Toggle Skills on
You'll see built-in Skills like Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Word, CSV and more. Toggle each Skill you want to enable.
Start using Skills
Claude will automatically use enabled Skills when relevant. Ask it to create a spreadsheet, generate a PDF, or work with documents.
Upload Custom Skills
Upload your own Skills as ZIP files. The ZIP must contain a folder with a valid SKILL.md file.

Troubleshooting
Skills not visible?
Upload failing?
- Check that SKILL.md is in the root folder inside the ZIP
- Verify the YAML frontmatter has name and description
- Make sure the ZIP isn't nested (folder/folder/SKILL.md)
Skill not activating?
- Check that the Skill is toggled on in Settings
- Try mentioning what you want explicitly in your prompt
- Refresh the page and try again
